Are you looking for an internship opportunity to learn, develop and expand your competencies for the assessment and treatment of children with serious emotional and mental health diagnosis that require additional community support to help them meet their needs and achieve their goals? COMHAR's IBHS Children's Program may be for you!
COMHAR's IBHS Children's Program supports children to receive intensive services in the home, school, or community in order to help them reduce or replace problem behaviors with more positive, socially appropriate behaviors.
Interns best suited to the program are those who are flexible, creative, self-driven, and eager to learn and practice. They strive to integrate classroom and real-world learning into their internship work and are unafraid to consider new ideas. They are compassionate and recognize that the individuals served have a broad range of lived experiences that may be influenced by trauma, oppression, and injustice.
Interns for this program will be assisting participants with providing behavior health services in the home and community settings which will enable the participants to live a stable, healthy and safe life in the community. This will be accomplished by assessing the consumer’s needs, linking the consumer to the agreed upon services and ongoing monitoring of these services and supports. Interns for this program will be given specific trainings ranging from behavioral health interventions to working with and engaging families of children with behavioral health needs, and also will be given an opportunity to develop clinical documentation skills.
For additional information about the program, please email Kevin D. Bennett, LCSW, Division Director of Children’s Services at kevin.bennett@comhar.org.
