$47,000.00-$50,000.00


Position Summary


The MDE Supervisor requires a demonstrated commitment to expanding developmental opportunities and improving outcomes for infants and toddlers and a comprehensive knowledge of early intervention service policy issues, practices, programs, and procedures. This position has additional job duties and responsibilities specifically related to the areas of recruiting, hiring, and staffing of MDE evaluators.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete 7-9 initial evaluations weekly, in addition to accompanying documentation. Documentation is completed within 24 hours of the completed evaluation.
  • Responsible for assisting the MDE Coordinator in:
  • Scheduling of evaluations
  • Review of completed evaluation.
  • Ensuring that evaluators and office staff are completing all required work in PELICAN (HCSIS) and Evolv systems in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to the developed schedule of evaluations.
  • Help to troubleshoot when there are problems with accessing children in PEIDS, PELICAN (HCSIS) or Evolv.
  • Attending all Teaching and Learning Collaborative (TLC) and supervisor meetings.
  • Attendance at county and state meetings/conferences that pertain to the early intervention system.
  • Complete 24 training hours each fiscal year.
  • Complete quarterly case reviews and verification to ensure the program is within compliance with all regulations and policies as they pertain to the initial evaluation program.
  • Do observations of evaluations completed by Special Instructors conducting multi-disciplinary evaluations and determine conformance with county standards.
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of all aspects of Initial MDE program – billing, budget, personnel, documentation, early intervention system, training, etc.
  • Ensure that all evaluations are entered into HCSIS within 24 hours. This includes auditing reports to ensure that vital information is imputed correctly.
  • Ensure that all staff are up to date with Teaching and Learning Collaborative (TLC) training.
  • Attending supervisor meetings and county updates, as applicable.
  • Complete special projects relevant to the Children Services Department as directed by MDE Program Coordinator.
  • Other duties reasonable and related to this position as directed by related supervisors.

Shared Essential Functions

  • Provide administrative assistance to the MDE team workers throughout the fiscal year.
  • Attending professional development training, workshops, and educational seminars.
  • Research and distribute information to agencies regarding best practices, innovative service models, and other information regarding the provision of early intervention services.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings to ensure well-coordinated and effective delivery of services to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Support hiring process of MDE Evaluators, as needed, to include reference checks, verification of credentials and communication to candidates and staff.
  • Support ongoing assurance of properly credentialed staff.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Master Level degree in in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience working directly with children ages birth to three who may or may not have disabilities and their families.
  • Significant demonstrated supervisory experience or skills.
  • Valid Criminal FBI, PA State Criminal and PA Child Abuse clearances.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle preferred. Must be able to move about COMHAR service areas throughout the day to provide appropriate oversight and coordination and meet job duties as needed and required.

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania early intervention practices.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development.
  • Ability to relate to diverse program environment and people of diverse cultures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, providers and stakeholders.
  • Technologically proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point.
  • Ability and willingness to learn company software and state/county computer programs used to operate business. (i.e. HCSIS (Pelican) and PEIDS)
