Registered Nurse Supervisor Shift Schedule: 

Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM (Weekend on-call responsibilities)

 

Registered Nurse Supervisor Position Summary

The Registered Nurse Supervisor is responsible for participating in and providing leadership for integrated care teams, including attending team meetings to ensure clear and effective communication among all disciplines involved in participant’s care. The Registered Nurse Manager supervises Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in the Philadelphia area, with supervisory support to the nursing team in the Northampton area under with the Nurse Manager in the area.


Registered Nurse Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and other nursing staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient care, ensuring compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Provide direct patient care, including wound care, vital sign monitoring, and sample collection as needed.
  • Provision of assistance to residents who are unable to self-administer medication. Supervision of self-administered medication when indicated. Knowledge of and Administration of injectable medications as prescribed. Participation in education of residents regarding their medications, including assisting residents who are unable to self-administer medication to become able to do so.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate performance of nursing staff to maintain high-quality care.
  • Conduct patient assessments and document findings in medical records.
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient care activities and compliance with record-keeping standards.
  • Assist in the management of clinical supplies and inventory.
  • Timely review and notification to providers of laboratory results.
  • Clozaril REMS data entry.
  • Infection control:
  1. Strict adherence to infection control guidelines including cleaning and disinfection of nursing office, supplies, and site.
  2. Strict adherence to hand hygiene protocols.
  • Compliance with all internal and external requirements and regulations regarding but not limited to record keeping and recording.
  • Observance of Universal Precautions in administering medications, proper disposal of sharps and biohazard and waste material, and handling waste products, etc.
  • Provision of direct service to residents, including assistance with personal hygiene, bathing/showering, and all other tasks of daily living as needed.
  • Leading activities with residents, including educational, social, and leisure programs for which residents’ input is elicited. Participating in community integration activities as needed.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss patient care, policy updates, and team development.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and implement best practices.
  • Address and resolve patient and family concerns and complaints.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Compliance with all COMHAR policies and procedures with no unauthorized exception.
  • Staff sharing to alternate sites for medication administration and client care when the need arises.
  • Provide basic medical screenings to participants including but not limited to blood draws from patients while following strict precautionary safety procedures to limit the risk of contact with potentially infectious blood and other bodily fluids, as well as provide monitoring of blood pressure, body mass index, lipids, glucose and tobacco use.
  • Partner with participant, their care team providers, and outside supports to ensure effective care coordination and that care plan is implemented as developed and needed adjustments are made.
  • Monitor participant's progress in treatment and assist the clinical team with evaluating the need for continued services.
  • Attend and participate in supervision, team meetings, and clinical rounds with medical team.
  • Provide support in various program locations.
  • Providing long-acting injectable medications.
  • Other duties reasonable and related to this position as directed by related supervisors.

Registered Nurse Supervisor Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or related field; master’s preferred.
  •  Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • CPR w/AED & First Aid certification required.
  • ACT 31 Mandated Reporter Certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license. (Must be able to move about COMHAR service areas throughout the day to provide appropriate oversight and coordination and meet job duties as needed and required.)
  • Physical examination including PPD and TB.
