Description

Recovery Counselor (CIRC/SIL)

COMHAR is a nonprofit community based organization. Our mission is to provide health, and human services that empower individuals, families and communities to live healthier self-determined lives.

We are currently seeking a Recovery Counselor.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide opportunities for individuals receiving services to direct their own recovery process.
  • Teach, coach, and motivate, individuals in the acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate their recovery.
  • Educate individuals about available service options and choices.
  • Promote the utilization of natural resources within the community.
  • Facilitate the development of a sense of wellness and self worth.
  • Provide 24/7 on after hours coverage on a rotating basis.


Requirements:

  • At a minimum will have an associate’s degree and 1 year work experience in mental health direct service. Or
  • A CPS and 1 year paid or volunteer work experience in mental health direct service. Or
  • A high school diploma or GED and 2 years experience in human services which must include 1 year of mental health direct service.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge (or willingness to learn about) community resources in Philadelphia area.
  • Willingness to work flexible work schedule to include some evenings, weekends, and holiday hours.
